Tour of Grant Wood painting extends to Russia

The painting, "Sheaves of Corn", done in 1931 by Regionalist artist, Grant Wood, continues to tour from China to Moscow. The Midwest Museum of American Art is the only museum in Indiana to be asked to participate in the traveling exhibition organized by the Guggenheim Museum, New York. The exhibition, "Art in America: Three Hundred Years of Innovation", began its tour in Beijing and Shanghai, China. It was then requested to visit the Pushkin Museum in Moscow by the Russian/US relations. The exhibit is due to close in Russia by September 9 with an expected return of the painting by the end of the year.

"Sheaves of Corn" represents one of the flagship works of the MMAA Permanent Collection. With its current itinerary, the painting and the Midwest Museum of American Art in Elkhart, Indiana, will have attained global notoriety.
